MAP - Measure of Academic Progress

Description:  Measures of Academic Progress® (MAP®) tests present students with engaging, age-appropriate content. As a student responds to questions, the test responds to the student, adjusting up or down in difficulty.

When is it given?:  This assessment is given in the fall, winter, and spring.

Subjects tested:  The two subjects assessed are reading and math.

How data is used:  Results are used to show student growth.

SBA - Smarter Balanced Assessment

Description:  Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBA) are the state's exams for students in grades 3 through 8, and 11 to determine student achievement and growth in English language arts and math.  Tenth graders have the option to take the math SBA if they are currently in Algebra 2 or higher.  All tenth graders are required to take the ELA Exit Exam.

When is it given?:  This assessment is given in the spring.

Subjects tested:  The two subjects assessed are English language arts and math.

How data is used:  Results are used to determine student achievement and growth.

WCAS - Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science

Description:  Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science measures the level of proficincy that Washington students have achieved based on the Washington State 2013 K-12 Science Learning Standards.  This assessment is given in grades 5, 8, and 11.

When is it given?:  This assessment is given in the spring.

Subjects tested:  Science

How data is used:  Results are used to determine student achievement and growth.
